Time Attack Spectating
Time Attack has its roots firmly in far away Japan and originally was created as a proving ground for super-keen car tuners wanting to demonstrate the full potential of their hugely powerful street machines. Today, though, there are official championships right around the world… including one right here in the UK where the increasingly popular discipline gained MSA approval in 2010.
So, if you fancy something new to tingle your spine and to take away your breath, get out and experience our very own Time Attack Series. And there are no excuses either as the nationwide calendar includes rounds at familiar venues all over the country including Oulton Park, Brands Hatch and Cadwell Park as well as Knockhill in Scotland.
As well as providing fans with a paddock full of highly tuned cars to admire, Time Attack events deliver loads of dramatic on-track action as drivers try to set the fastest possible single lap time around the chosen circuit. In racing terms, it’s very much like an all-or-nothing, one shot qualifying shoot-out. Competitors are restricted to just one timed flying lap, so there’s plenty of pressure and no second chances.
Adding to the spectacle Time Attack is open to all marques and there are different classes depending on the degree of aftermarket modification and tuning that’s been carried out. Better still, Time Attack is massive drawcard to an altogether new, more youthful audience and thus it’s broadening motor sport’s overall appeal to those weaned on computer games and stirred by souped up street cars. It could be the one for you…
