Production Car Autotest on Sunday 31^st March 2013 at Gelliargwelt Uchaf Farm, Gelligaer. (Bryn Quarry)

Entry fee: YMMC members – £25. Non-members – £30. (Cash only, NO cheques)

Entry forms and regs can be obtained on a Monday night from the Coopers Arms, payment must be made with entry. No entries will be taken on the day.

50th Anniversary of YMMC

In 2013 we celebrate the 50^th Anniversary of YMMC.

We will be holding different events to celebrate this event, and your support is needed to organise them.

We normally start the year with our Gymkhana at Gelliargwellt-Uchaf Farm. But due to circumstances beyond our control we will not be running this until Sunday 5^th May. .

We will hold our annual presentation evening on Friday 1st February at the Valley Stadium. Tickets will be £10 per person and include disco & buffet. Admission is by ticket only, please see Sharon or Paul.

We are planning to have a formal evening later in the year, date and venue to be confirmed. To this we will be inviting founder and past members of the club. Any ideas you may have for venues or things we can do on this night would be appreciated.

Website Updates & Curry Night

Apologies for the lack of updates on here lately.

Behind the scenes our technical wizard moved to the wrong side of the bridge (England) and it’s taken a while for the reins to be handed back to Wales.

Now we have access, the website will be updated at least once a month with all the latest results and news of upcoming events.

Curry Night

For those that aren’t able to come to club often, we are all going for a Curry on Monday 3^rd December in Caerphilly instead of meeting in the Coopers. Everyone’s Welcome.

A Tricky Wyedean for YMMC Crews

We had three Ystrad Mynach Motor Club members out on the Wyedean on Saturday. All of them were navigators, on what was to prove to be very tricky conditions. We had regulars Paul Wakely and Alun Cook and well as a first timer in the woods, on notes, in the shape of Daniel Phelps (above picture).

Mixed conditions including variations of ice, mud, snow and tarmac meant that not everyone found the going easy. With the rule on historic tyre use coming into play, as well as the cost of winter/snow/ice tyres, many drivers struggled for grip on what was sheet ice at times. Unfortunately not all of our navigators made it through the entire Forest of Dean based event. Alun Cook (inset right picture) who was co driving for Peter Egerton in their Ford MKII Escort were 2nd in class H4, before retiring on Stage 4.

Although we had better news for our other two navigators. Paul Wakely (inset left picture) who was with Peter Smith in his Ford MKII Escort came first in class H4 and an impressive 52nd overall. Well done lads. However special praise must go to a relative newcomer to the navigators seat. Daniel Phelps who was navigating in only his third rally and his first on pacenotes, finished the rally 95th overall and 10th in class RF1.4. He was navigating for James Watkins who had high praise for Daniel in their first event together in the tiny Nissan Micra. Unfortunately Daniel didn’t manage to set his watch correctly which meant that they incurred a 3 minute time penalty for early arrivals at two of the days stages. However the pair didn’t get lost once and not a single note was missed. Well done Daniel!!!

The Witches Brew Road Rally is back!

Earlier in the month we announced on Facebook that the classic name of the Witches Brew would be returning to the road rally calendar for 2012. June 16-17th 2012 are the dates to pencil into your diary.

Our very own road rally veteran Peter Watts will be the man in the hot seat on this event. Although this time the seat in question is not the navigators one. He will be in charge of the route and in fact the rally itself. Although the route is top secret we know its going to be an absolute cracker!

Club Presentation Evening, Sat 14th Jan 2012

We are pleased to announce details of our Club Presentation evening. This will be a chance to celebrate some of our clubs achievers over the past 12 months.

On Saturday 14th January 2012 at Valley Stadium, Ystrad Mynach.

Tickets £10 to include Buffet & Disco. All proceeds to go to our Charity for 2012 which is the Noha’s Ark Appeal for the Childrens Hospital of Wales.

If you intend to come along please let us know by 2nd January if you will be attending.
